Chōsokabe Motochika
The bandit who's actually a pirate, and Masamune sees nothing wrong with the notion of a samurai pirate, so long as the guy's true to his beliefs. While they had a bit of a rough start, from the beginning they've been all grins and smirks with "guns blazing". Despite the short period of time he's known Motochika for, Masamune respects and sees a fine adversary in him. Motochika is his own man; not a rival like Yukimura, nor a familiar figure like Kojūrō, but someone Masamune can better relate with on a more mental level. Because as much as they might deny it when it suits them, they run on the same wavelength. It's interesting how Motochika seems to have taken interest in a certain kid. Masamune will just grin and go along with it.

Uesugi Kenshin
Kenshin has long been a distant target of Masamune to overcome in his conquest. And that's about as far as their relationship goes -- between the Tiger of Kai and the War God of Echigo, Masamune's much more familiar with the former. Still, there's at least one deed of Kenshin that he's a little grateful (but not indebted) for, and that's keeping him holed up in Hitotoribashi. It helped him calm down. For the most part, Kenshin's a pleasant sort of guy, though Masamune is more than happy to look past that for a chance at a fight. In Vatheon, that's exactly what he's aiming for. He's dropped enough painstakingly obvious hints at a challenge and Kenshin's given positive responses, for the most part.

Amaterasu
Amaterasu is a subconscious reminder that Vatheon has power over even powerful deities; however, Masamune's more focused on the fact that she's the Sun Goddess and, man, does she pack a punch. He likes it. A great deal of his respect goes to her, although it isn't out of the knowledge that she's a goddess. That's a cool bonus, but Amaterasu's a fighter and that's more worth noting. She's not just for show, at least from what he's gathered thus far.

Jack Sparrow
A pirate unlike any other Masamune's ever met, which is a total of one (and the guy's a samurai). Jack is definitely eccentric, if not at least a bit off his rocker. Masamune doesn't really mind, or care. the fact that he's supposed to be a pirate -- a captain, no less -- has Masamune quirking a mental brow, but he's more interested in the tales Jack has to share. That is, specifically those of the Kraken and Calypso, and so on. The guy himself is . . . all right, if a wee overbearing.

Tatsumi Kanji
Initially, Kanji was a quick street fight that ensued over Masamune practicing out in the plaza. At that time, the kid was angry and easily riled up. The second time they spoke, Kanji was a lot milder in personality and even casual, which amused Masamune to a degree. Kanji isn't as "rough or tough" as he initially seemed; between the crackers and the blissful ignorance, he's more like a real kid. The fact that he keeps claiming how Masamune is inferior to "Souji-senpai" nudges him the wrong way, though. Just a little. The excitement drowns out most of the irritation.

Arisato Minato
Motochika's kid. Masamune's met and spoken with Minato on one occasion, the next time they saw each other being when Motochika was about ready to pummel the guy. From what little he's seen, Masamune thinks he's "okay". There isn't much to say, but Motochika seems to have a fair amount of hopes for Minato, so Masamune will give him the benefit of the doubt. Minato hasn't been difficult as far as Masamune's concerned, so it's not hard to return the favor.

Minatsuki Saya
Eater of information and food alike, Saya has shown and told Masamune more than he could hope to learn about Vatheon. That wealth of knowledge can go screw itself (except not really), because Saya makes for interesting company as she is. He's used to unusual characters by now, and Saya is far from being the most unique type out there, but she's definitely her own self. Inquisitive, deep, and yet childish in many ways, it's like talking to a woman and a girl at the same time. For the most part, Masamune's confident he sees right through her (with the exception of some matters) and has taken to humoring Saya whenever she drops by. Her being able to put up a good fight is a huge bonus.

Train Heartnet
Saya's friend, or mirror. Masamune spoke with him very briefly when he first arrived; some one month later, Train forgot his name and a comical recollection followed (which failed). Masamune isn't impressed with that apparent forgetfulness, though he is up for a second glance at the guy after he got thanked, of all things. Masamune isn't particularly interested in Train, but he isn't disinterested in talking with the guy all the same.
